Quick care tips

Five habits that keep a rug looking its best.

Padding

Rug pads are always a good investment. They add softness, stop the rug slipping and sliding, and keep it flat so it is not a trip hazard. Over wall-to-wall carpet, the right padding is a must.

Sunlight

Continual exposure to sunlight eventually fades color and weakens fibers. Limit sun where you can and rotate the rug 180 degrees every 12 months. We also offer UV protection.

Moths

Moths lay eggs in the pile of wool rugs, and the larvae feed on the wool. Keep rugs vacuumed, especially under furniture and in dark areas, and check nearby rugs if you find damage on one.

General wear

Shake or vacuum regularly to keep dirt from grinding into the pile, and rotate your rugs 180 degrees every 12 months to even out wear. Planning to store a rug? We can store it and dust it when you are ready.

Stains and spills

Deal with spills quickly, before they soak into the foundation. Blot, apply water or our Stain Lifter spray, re-blot and let the area dry. Ask about our Fiber Seal Coating to protect against future stains.
